Intellectual property (IP) remains the foundation on which innovative businesses and products are built., AI, machine learning, digital assets and other emerging technologies rely on the protection that comes from IP to protect their innovations. As a result, big tech companies like Microsoft, Apple, Amazon, Google and Meta have thousands of patents and IP rights that aid their valuations and make them some of the most valuable companies in the world. For the 2023 World IP Day, the World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO will be celebrating it with the theme “Women and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity” and it puts the spotlight on the role that women play in driving innovation and creativity. An apt theme considering the role women continue to play in driving innovation and creativity.
